Why configuration export matters
Bridge rules include names, mode, COM port, IP address, TCP port, protocol, and sometimes serial settings. Re-entering that data by hand increases support risk.
Good use cases
- Move a tested setup from a lab machine to a field workstation.
- Back up a working configuration before changing ports or devices.
- Prepare a standard configuration for multiple similar machines.
- Share rule details with a support engineer.
Import carefully
Before importing, stop running connections and verify that COM numbers are available on the target machine. A configuration file cannot fix missing physical devices or firewall rules.
ComLinker support
ComLinker can export and import JSON configuration files, and can create required virtual COM ports when importing compatible TCP Client rules.
