When to use RFC2217
Raw TCP forwards bytes. RFC2217 can also carry serial control settings. Use it when the remote endpoint is an RFC2217 server and expects those settings.
Steps
- Create a TCP Client rule.
- Set Protocol to RFC2217.
- Select or create the local virtual COM port.
- Enter the remote IP address and port.
- Set baud rate, data bits, parity, stop bits, and flow control.
- Start the rule and test the COM port in your Windows application.
Troubleshooting
If the rule cannot connect, confirm the remote server really supports RFC2217. A raw TCP server will not behave like RFC2217.
